Rocket Driver Movie Synopsis:
Rocket Driver Movie Review: A time travel story that delves into human emotions and offers feel-good moments without indulging in the complexities of the unique genre. Sounds interesting? Debutant Sriram Ananthashankar's Rocket Driver attempts to narrate a quirky story that is innovative in every sense. The movie begins with a fantasy sequence, preparing the audience for the unconventional flow of events that follow.
Prabha (Vishvath), a physics geek, becomes a reluctant auto driver, thanks to his father's inability to help him pursue higher studies. However, he is keen on bringing remarkable changes to the world and considers APJ Abdul Kalam as his role model. As unbelievable as it may sound, he encounters none other than the celebrated scientist-turned-former President of India. Interestingly, Prabha comes across the younger version of the legend, after which his life experiences a roller-coaster ride.
What appears to be a unique plot has been developed into an engaging series of events, thanks to the subtlety in which the time travel genre is presented. The performance of Naga Vishal as the young Abdul Kalam is the highlight of the film and Vishvath complements the former. The far-fetched storyline is largely entertaining because of its simple narrative style and organic emotional episodes. The reason attributed to Kalam's time travel from 1948 to 2023 during a bus journey from Rameswaram to Chennai sounds strange, but the reasonably enjoyable sequences make you overlook the flaws.
The wafer-thin story that lacks high moments sticks out like a sore thumb, but the sincerity with which the filmmaker stays true to the story deserves applause. Kathadi Ramamurthy, as Kalam's real-life friend Sastry, excels in scenes in which he appears. Sunainaa's role, however, contributes only little to the scheme of things. Kaushik Krish's music stands out among the technical aspects that aid the storytelling.
Rocket Driver isn't a spectacular film that offers riveting sequences from beginning to end, but the genuine nature of the story and heartwarming performances are sure to leave a smile on your face.
